The Mennonite College of Nursing Friends Fund was established in 1994. The Fund supports activities, programs and operations associated with the Mennonite College of Nursing.
Stutzman Student Success Fund
To establish a fund supporting the academic and clinical success and retention of nursing students. Funds may be used for clinical and academic books and supplies, mentoring, educational programs and support for students' urgent needs such as transportation. These funds will be administered by the Dean of the College of Nursing.
Jerry and Jenny Lu Etcheson Fund for End of Life Care
The Jerry and Jenny Lu Etcheson Fund for End of Life Care fund was established in 2020 to support Mennonite College of Nursing graduate student research on end of life care.
Research, Scholarship and Innovation Fund
The Research, Scholarship and Innovation Fund provides support for the research initiatives, scholarly endeavors and innovation projects through publications, presentations, and research initiatives to attract faculty and students to the Mennonite College of Nursing. The fund was established with a distribution from the estate of Margaret Randolph.
Research Program Enhancement
This fund was established in 2005 to insure the expanding needs and support personnel of the Mennonite College of Nursing research program are met. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. Nursing Community Impact Research Restricted Fund
This fund was created in 2011 by Janet Krecji, dean of the Mennonite College of Nursing. The purpose of the fund is to receive smaller project funds from multiple sources to create small seed grants. Faculty and students who partner with community organizations that pursue goals that have the potential to make a broad and short- term impact on the community organization and the population it serves may benefit from this fund. Specific goals for each project will be developed under the supervision of the leadership in nursing research while also adhering to any restrictions and guidelines agreed to in a proposal created by donors for specific projects.
Marion McDowell Stafford Lectureship Series in Child and Family Health
Healthcare providers and consumers alike struggle with keeping abreast of current and ongoing changes that significantly influence health care delivery and individual behavior. At the core of health care transformation issues is a societal concern related particularly to the health of children and families. The purpose of this fund is to provide leaders in the health care field an opportunity to share experiences, research, and knowledge on cutting-edge education on topics related to child and family health issues. Endowment assets are invested in the Illinois State University Foundation's long-term investment pool.
Helen Seeley and Ada Seeley Barton Fund
The Helen Seeley-Ada Seeley Barton Scholarship was established in memory of these two sisters. This scholarship was initiated by Martha Keaton and Anna Keaton, and the many friends of Helen Seeley and Ada Seeley Barton. The scholarship honors the sisters for their long time interest in students. Candidates for the Seeley-Barton Scholarship must be female student(s), preferably live off-campus, demonstrate financial need, have promise for success as demonstrated by above average grades, have an interest and be active in student affairs, and be student(s) in the area of elementary education, nursing, art or home economics. Assets of this endowment are invested in the ISU Endowment Investment Pool. The Helen Seeley-Ada Seeley Barton Scholarship was established in memory of these two sisters. This endowment was established in 1989 by Eugene Mosbacher as a memorial for his wife, Virginia. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time student enrolled in Mennonite College of Nursing. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. Marie Yoder Scholarship Endowment Fund MCN
The Marie Yoder Scholarship was established in 1998 by Marie Yoder through the BroMenn Foundation to be used for scholarships for nursing students at Mennonite College of Nursing. Marie Yoder, a 1935 graduate of Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing, established the scholarship fund for the purposes of promoting clinical nursing excellence and supporting students demonstrating outstanding nursing skills along with acceptable academic achievement. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Marie Yoder Scholarship was established in 1998 by Marie Yoder through the BroMenn Foundation to be used for scholarships for nursing students at Mennonite College of Nursing. Marie Yoder, a 1935 graduate of Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing, established the scholarship fund for the purposes of promoting clinical nursing excellence and supporting students demonstrating outstanding nursing skills along with acceptable academic achievement.
Ruth and Herman Tiedeman Fund
The Dr. Herman and Ruth Tiedeman Endowed Memorial Fund was transferred from the BroMenn Foundation to the ISU Foundation on July 1, 1999, as a part of the acquisition of Mennonite College of Nursing by ISU. Five hundred dollars of theincome shall be awarded annually to a student of the MCN. Potential recipients must have qualities of leadership, community involvement, and committment to the advancement of the profession of nursing and scholarship. All remaining income generated by the trust shall be paid on an annual basis to the MCN to be used as it deems necessary and appropriate. Assets of this endowment are invested in the ISU Endowment Investment Pool. The Dr. Herman and Ruth Tiedeman Endowed Memorial Fund was transferred from the BroMenn Foundation to the ISU Foundation on July 1, 1999, as a part of the acquisition of Mennonite College of Nursing by ISU. State Farm Nursing Technology
The State Farm Nursing Technology Fund supports the Academic Success Plan and Simulation Competencies at the Mennonite College of Nursing. The fund supports technologies, equipment and training for the development and implementation of Nursing Simulations and is focused on aligning nursing education with improved faculty expertise and improved safety and quality of patient outcomes.
Russian Transcultural Student Exchange Fund
This fund was created in 2007, by Wendy Woith, faculty member of MCN at ISU to remove some financial barriers that may prevent Russian nursing students from traveling to ISU to participate in exchange programs. Dr. Woith intends to provide annual gifts to the fund and make annual awards and gradually add enough funds to establish a permanent endowment as funds permit. Fund may be used for transportation to and from the United States or other expenses that the students may incur during their home stay. Each candidate for a Russian Travel Fund Award must: Be a Russian nursing student, a translator or faculty chaperone for a Russian nursing student participating in an exchange with ISU. Catherine Kaesberg (CBK) and Dr. Jay Corwin Fund for Academic Success
The Catherine Kaesberg (CBK) and Dr. Jay Corwin Fund for Academic Success award was established in 2017 by Catherine Kaesberg and Jay Corwin to support student academic success in Mennonite College of Nursing. Monies will primarily be used to help prepare students for the national licensure exam (NCLEX). Remaining funds may be used to support student general academic success.

Mennonite College of Nursing Endowed Transcultural Fund
This fund was created by professors Karrie Ingalsbe and Lynn Kennell as a part of the University’s first comprehensive campaign in 2002, and became an endowed fund in 2005. The transcultural nursing program began in 1972, and this fund provides the first effort to provide a source of on-going support for the program including support for faculty and student travel to participate in transcultural exchanges. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. This fund was created by professors Karrie Ingalsbe and Lynn Kennell as a part of the University's first comprehensive campaign in 2002, and became an endowed fund in 2005. Deneen Scholarship for Mental Health Nursing
The Deneen Scholarship for Mental Health Nursing was established by Dan Deneen in 2024 order to provide financial assistance to nursing students who plan to work in the area of mental health/psychiatric nursing.

Betty Knuckles Scholarship
The Betty Knuckles Scholarship was established by Linda Jo Strouse in order to award a nursing scholarship in memory of her mother, Betty Knuckles.
The Rebecca L. Sapp Ferguson Scholarship
The Rebecca L. Sapp Ferguson Scholarship was established by Rebecca Lynn Sapp Ferguson in order to create a scholarship for a nontraditional student within the Mennonite College of Nursing. Preference will be given to a nontraditional student pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree who graduated from high school no less than ten years ago and is a single caregiver of a minor child, spouse, or parent.
Richard and Julia Johnson Scholarship
This endowment was established by Richard and Julia Johnson in 2000. Richard Johnson served on the MCN Board of Trustees. The scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in Mennonite College of Nursing who is a graduate of a secondary school in McLean County and a member of an ethnic minority group. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Richard and Julia Johnson Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in Mennonite College of Nursing with a preference going to a person who: Is a first-generation college student, or Is a part of Mennonite College of Nursing's Dual Enrollment program with local community colleges, or Is a member of a registered student organization dedicated to supporting diversity, equity and inclusion, or Submits an essay (no more than one page) describing the importance of having diversity of backgrounds in nursing.
Star for Nursing Education Endowed Scholarship
The Star for Nursing Education Endowed Scholarship provides financial support and encouragement for students enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State. The funds must be used for educational, housing, and/or materials expenses (i.e. books, uniforms, equipment). The fund was established in 2010 by Joe and Michael Talkington. Joe retired from Illinois State in 1991 after having served as a faculty member and chairperson in the Department of Technology. Upon his retirement he began the Star Uniform business. He sold the business to his son, Michael, who attended University High, where he played basketball and football. Michael received his bachelor's in finance from Illinois State in 1980.
Esther Lyon Brock Endowed Scholarship
The Esther Lyon Brock Endowed Scholarship was established in 2008 by Esther's family as a living tribute. Esther Lyon Brock was a nurse for the first ten years of her career before joining her husband, Herschel, in business. She lived and worked in Bloomington for over 50 years. Each candidate for the scholarship must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled in good standing at ISU; demonstrate strong academic achievement, as evidenced by a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; be accepted for enrollment or enrolled in any Mennonite College of Nursing, undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral sequence. The scholarship is to be used for educational expenses and is renewable as long as the student continues to meet all criteria of the scholarship. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. This gift is made in memory of Miss Gertrude E. Skelly. The funds received are to be used solely to fund the Nursing Scholarship as outline in grant proposal. The Gertrude E Skelly Nursing Scholarship was established through a gift from the Gertrude E. Skelly Chartiable Foundation in memory of Miss Gertrude E. Skelly. Annual gifts to this fund will be used as directed by each gift received. The gift from 2020 is to support emergency funding for nursing students.

Adkisson-Bourne Endowed Scholarship
The Adkisson-Bourne Endowed Scholarship was established in 2013 by Bill Adkisson and his wife Ellen Bourne, both proud graduates of Illinois State University. The scholarship was established in honor of Ellen's cousins, Myrna Tomblinson and Barbara Thomann to support a non-traditional student pursing a degree in nursing. Ms. Tomblinson and Ms. Thomann returned to school earning their RN degrees in their 40s and worked as geriatric nurses in southern Illinois.

The funds generated by this endowment are designated to help Mennonite College of Nursing perpetuate the education of caring nurses who provide excellent clinical care. The purpose is to further the work of the Xi Pi chapter. It will fund nursing scholarships, research grants, awards, and chapter programming. These awards could support the chapter activities. This fund exemplifies Xi Pi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International's commitment to supporting students, faculty, and community leaders to promote scholarship and leadership in nursing. COUNTRY Endowment for Nursing Simulation Education & Technology
This endowment is the result of a strategic investment by COUNTRY Financial with the Illinois State University Mennonite College of Nursing. With a financial commitment from COUNTRY, the University Board of Trustees approved the construction of a 10,000-square-foot modular building to accommodate a nursing simulation laboratory. It will ensure nursing students at Illinois State University receive state of the art education and stay on the cutting edge of emerging technology. COUNTRY is committed to the health and well-being of its employees, retirees, clients, and the Central Illinois community. Endowment assets are invested in the Illinois State Unviersity Foundation's long-term investment pool.

This endowment was established in 2004 by family and friends as a memorial for Janie McCray honoring her love and devotion to adult learning. In 1995 Janie established the RN-BSN program at Mennonite College of Nursing. This fund is to provide resources to strengthen and enhance the RN-BSN program. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. This endowment was established in 2004 by family and friends as a memorial for Janie McCray honoring her love and devotion to adult learning. In 1995 Janie established the RN-BSN program at Mennonite College of Nursing. This fund is to provide resources to strengthen and enhance the RN-BSN program. The Romeyn Oyer Endowed Scholarship was established in 2018 by Joanna Oyer in memory of her mother Romeyn Oyer. The scholarship supports a student enrolled in Illinois State University Mennonite College of Nursing with demonstrated financial need.
Springfield Clinic Student Support Fund
The Springfield Clinic Student Support Fund was established by Springfield Clinic in order to collaborate with the Mennonite College of Nursing by helping to support nursing student engagement events.
Lynn Kennell Scholarship in Nursing
Donors are establishing an endowed scholarship to honor Lynn Kennell, a longtime and beloved instructor at the Mennonite College of Nursing. Preference for the scholarship will be given to those students who demonstrate financial need and have an interest in maternal and child health as determined through the scholarship application process at Mennonite College of Nursing, which includes a short essay completed by each student.
Lois C. Kaufmann Endowment in Nursing
Lois C. Kaufmann graduated from Mennonite School of Nursing in 1939. She came from a large farming family and was the oldest female. Lois knew the value of hard work and caring for others. Her father encouraged Lois to attend the Mennonite College of Nursing even though it was a sacrifice for her to attend nursing school, because she was needed at home to help her family. She was always thankful for the education she received and looked back at her training at Mennonite as crucial to her career in nursing. The purpose of this fund is to assist a nursing student that exhibits financial need in order to continue their education.
Margaret & Earle B. Johnson, Jr Excellence in Nursing Scholarship
To establish a fund supporting recruitment scholarships in order to attract the best and brightest students to the Mennonite College of Nursing now and in the future. Therefore, in each year of the pledge, $25,000 will go to the endowed portion of the fund for future Mennonite College Scholarships and $25,000 will go to the expendable portion of the fund to be used for current recruitment scholarships for incoming prospective nursing students. The expendable funds may be used for two $5,000 scholarships and ten $1,500 scholarships annually to be determined at the discretion of the Dean in consultation with the Office of Admissions.

Esther Eigsti Sutter and Lela Sutter Endowed Scholarship
The Esther Eigsti Sutter Scholarship was established in 2017 by Willis Sutter in memory of his wife. In 2021 scholarship was changed The scholarship provides support for a student enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing with demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students from the Flanagan or Hopedale Illinois communities or from rural central Illinois.
Catherine B. Corwin and Dr. Jay Corwin Endowed Fund for Academic Success
Fund established to support student academic success. Funds will be used to prepare students for the national nursing licensure exam. If funds remain after expenditures for this preparation, they may also be used to support general student academic success within the Mennonite College of Nursing.

Donny Bounds Endowed Scholarship
Donny Bounds valued his experience and education at Illinois State's Mennonite College of Nursing and the support he received as a male in a traditionally female-dominated profession and in preparing him for his career in Illinois. He now would like to support others on a similar career path.
Grace Harmon Endowed Scholarship
The Grace Harmon Endowed Scholarship was established by Paul and Sandra Harmon in order to help nursing students who are interested in pursuing a career in long term care or geriatrics, in memory of Grace Storm Harmon, Paul's grandmother.

The Curtis and Mary Ellen Griggs and William and Nadine Morlan Nursing Scholarship was established in 2005 by Larry and Joyce Morlan in memory of Larry's father, William J. Morlan and Joyce's parents, Curtis and Mary Ellen Griggs. Initial funds were provided by memorial gifts, and continued funding provided by the Morlans. The scholarship supports an outstanding nursing student with an interest in geriatric nursing or long-term care.

William and Nancy Yarger Nursing Leadership Scholarship
The William and Nancy Yarger Nursing Leadership Endowed Scholarship was established in 2014 by William (Bill) and Nancy to support the development of student leaders in the undergraduate nursing program at Illinois State University. Bill Yarger graduated from University High School in 1964 and from Illinois State University in 1969 with a degree in Business Administration. Nancy graduated from Illinois State University in 1969 with a degree in family and consumer sciences. The purpose of the William and Nancy Yarger Nursing Leadership Endowed Scholarship is to provide financial support to one or more student leaders(s) from the Student Nursing Association (SNA) to help defray the costs of attending a regional or national leadership conference. The award is given in the spring of each semester, preferably to student(s) who will be serving in the College of Nursing as a class officer in the succeeding year.

The William and Nancy Yarger Nursing Success Scholarship was established in 2020. The annual scholarship will support and promote nursing students who demonstrate leadership potential through their involvement in the University's ROTC program and/or a student who intends to work in an area of greatest need. In the event there are no MCN students involved in ROTC, preference will then be given to nursing students who demonstrate leadership potential as demonstrated by an interest in pursuing a career in an area of greatest need as determined by the Mennonite College of Nursing.

Larry David Lane II Scholarship
The Larry David Lane II Scholarship was established In 2020 by Merry Anne (Tudy) Schmied to honor the memory of her nephew Larry David Lane II. The scholarship provides financial assistance to a nursing student enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing. Preference given to a student who plans to work in the area of oncology and/or pediatrics.
Ralph and Louise Bellas Endowed Scholarship
The Ralph and Louise Bellas Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 by Ralph and Louise Bellas to assist students wanting to participate in international nursing exchanges, where they could experience medical technology, treatment, and patient care within different culture settings. Ralph Bellas joined ISU's English Department in 1965. During the 1970s, he served as director for three student groups to Brighton, England, in the international exchange program. Among his publications is Mennonite College of Nursing 1985-1995: The Flame Burns Brightly. Prior to coming to Mennonite School of Nursing, Louise Bellas practiced nursing in several U.S. cities. Public health nursing was her area of interest and expertise. She taught at Mennonite from 1972 to 1985. She was in England in 1974 to arrange an international student exchange program between Mennonite and the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. After retiring, Ralph and Louise served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Fiji, where Louise taught at the Fiji School of Nursing and Ralph taught at the University of the South Pacific. Louise passed away in 2022, and Ralph in 2023.

This endowment was established in 1999 by Roger and Stephany Joslin. The Joslin scholarships are awarded to exemplary undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in or admitted to Mennonite College of Nursing. The Ruth A. Oesch Endowed Scholarship was established in 2018. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance for Mennonite College of Nursing students who are enrolled in the RN to BSN program, RN to MSN program, or who are part of the Accelerated BSN program.

D and J Scholarship
The purpose of the fund is to establish a scholarship to acknowledge and reward the hard work it takes to be accepted and succeed in Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University. Scholarship funds will be provided to Mennonite College of Nursing students in their Junior and Senior years who are in good academic standing. In the first year, a Junior year recipient will receive a $3,000 scholarship and in the following year, if they remain eligible, the now Senior year recipient will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Mary J. Dyck Endowed Scholarship in Gerontological Nursing
The Mary J. Dyck Endowed Scholarship in Gerontological Nursing was established in 2021 by Mary Dyck and Brenda Johnson. The scholarship supports PhD students enrolled in good standing with the Mennonite College of Nursing with a research focus on older adults or leadership with older adults. In the event there are no PhD students with a research focus on older adults, then a Doctor of Nursing Practice student with a research focus on older adults would be acceptable.

Erma Mae Liddle Borchers Endowed Scholarship
The Erma Mae Liddle Borchers Endowed Scholarship was created in memory of Erma Mae Liddle Borchers in August 2011 through gifts from her husband, Warren Borchers; their children, Stephen Borchers and Lorita Borchers; and many friends and family. Erma graduated from the Mennonite College of Nursing in 1948. She enjoyed a diverse career in nursing that spanned 44 years. She was a life-long learner who continued her education by receiving her bachelor's degree in health services administration in 1982 and her certificate of rehab nursing in 1984. Erma was known as an innovator, encourager, mentor, and teacher. She never forgot the foundations taught to her at Mennonite College of Nursing. The purpose of this scholarship is to offer financial assistance to nursing students who have demonstrated financial need, with special emphasis given to students pursuing bedside or rehabilitation nursing.

Jana L. Edge Endowed International Transcultural Nursing Scholarship
Jana L. Edge enjoyed her career as a nurse and nursing instructor. In 1992, Jana was asked by the Bloomington/Normal's Sister City Association to lead an effort in response to a request for help to organize humanitarian aid for the city of Vladimir. Through her experiences with this project she grew to love helping people in other countries improve their lives through medical education. This scholarship will assist nursing students to have the opportunity to travel internationally, seeing nursing from an outside perspective, and learn to thrive outside their comfort zones. The purpose of this fund is to assist with expenses resulting from participation in international programs.

Mennonite College of Nursing Board Endowment for Clinical Labs
This fund was established in 2005 to provide funds to improve the nursing clinical laboratories at Illinois State University, insuring the faculty and students have the equipment necessary to prepare the preferred graduate. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. This fund was established in 2005 as the Mennonite College of Nursing Endowment for Clinical Labs to provide funds to improve the nursing clinical laboratories at Illinois State University. In November of 2011 an administrative agreement was signed and a new name, the Mennonite College of Nursing Clinical Simulation and Education Excellence Fund, was created. The purpose of the fund is to meet the needs of the highest priority initiatives within the clinical education components of the nursing curriculum, especially with regards to simulation education as determined by the dean of the department. Eric Tapley, BSN Heartland Emergency Specialist, LLC Endowed Scholarship
Eric Tapley was recruited to Illinois State University to play football. He was a three-year starter, graduated in 1983 with a degree in physical education, and received a B.S. in nursing in 1997 from Mennonite College of Nursing. Eric pursued a career in emergency nursing at Advocate BroMenn Regional Emergency Department in Normal, OSF Saint Francis Emergency Department in Peoria, and OSF Saint Joseph Emergency Department in Bloomington. He was a wonderful, cherished emergency nurse who helped save hundreds of lives. Eric also founded the Nothin' but the Blues Fest in Bloomington-Normal, and he was involved in many community organizations and boards. The Eric Tapley BSN--Heartland Emergency Specialists, LLC Scholarship was established in 2010 by Dr. Thomas Nielsen and Dr. Kathryn Bohn in Eric's honor. Bobbie McCambridge Endowed Nursing Scholarship
Bobbie McCambridge was born September 13, 1939. As a young child during WWII, she lived on a government farm where her father was the manager and her mother was the accountant. After high school, Ms. McCambridge decided to attend nursing school, a decision greatly influenced by her own mother's battle with cancer. The Bobbie McCambridge Endowed Nursing Scholarship was established in 2014 in recognition of her perseverance and determination. The purpose of this scholarship is to support students enrolled in good standing at Illinois State University Mennonite College of nursing with financial need.

Laurie T. Wessel and Lynn Marie Wessel Vickers Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2013 by Janet Wessel Krejci, dean, Mennonite College of Nursing, to honor her sisters, who both died young from complications of lupus. They were both amazing and fearless fighters, champions, role models, loving sisters, and friends. They are missed daily, but what they taught Janet and others was the enormous and powerful difference nurses and other health care professionals can make when they truly listen and see the complexity of the vulnerable human before them. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students with financial support so they can focus on becoming the best possible nurse they can be and learn the power of making a difference when focused on advocating for patients and their families in their most vulnerable moments.

The endowment was established in 2001 in honor of the founding institutions of Mennonite College of Nursing. Students must demonstrate high personal standards, high integrity, and desire to treat all humans, especially vulnerable humans they encounter throughout their nursing careers, with dignity and respect.
Winifred G. Lawrence Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Winifred G. Lawrence Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in memory of Winifred Gillen Lawrence. Ms. Lawrence was an accomplished teacher and counselor for students with special educational needs at the Board of Cooperative Education Services, Yorktown Heights, New York for 27 years. She was well recognized by both her students and colleagues for her expertise in serving students with special needs. Because of Ms. Lawrence's dedication to education, her personal commitment to self-improvement, and the need for trained medical professionals, her family established this scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support for a College of Nursing student who has demonstrated potential for personal and/or professional leadership, through service as an Illinois State University student leader, with preference given to candidates who are Mennonite College of Nursing student leaders.
Emily Anne Fredbloom Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Emily Anne Fredbloom Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 by Bruce and Leigh Anne Fredbloom in memory of their daughter, Emily, who passed away in September 2014. The purpose of the scholarship is to support a Mennonite College of Nursing student who is enrolled in good standing and expected to complete all requirements for a degree in nursing within 12 months. Emily Anne Fredbloom graduated cum laude from Mennonite College of Nursing (MCN) in May 2010. Emily was described by friends and co-workers as having a bubbly, bouncy personality with a smile that could light up any room. Her family wanted to continue her good works and hopefully relieve a little stress of other dedicated nursing students by providing assistance to future Mennonite College of Nursing students who embrace Emily's passion for life, nursing, and those she cared for.
Victoria Gasche Lannie Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Victoria Gasche Lannie Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by the Estate of Vickie Lannie to provide financial support for students enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing. Vickie Lannie graduated from Mennonite in 1965. She took an early interest in providing compassionate care to individuals who were dying, which led to a 32-year career in hospice care. Lannie built a hospice program for Methodist Hospital before serving as executive director of the campaign for the creation of a rural community center in Washington, IL. Lannie's legacy centers around a lifelong desire to make a difference for those who need it the most, and for those who often cannot advocate for themselves.

The MCN Telehealth Fund was established in 2017 to support the purchase of new telehealth equipment for the MCN simulation lab/clinic as determined by the Dean and Simulation Lab director.

This endowed scholarship fund was transferred from the BroMenn Foundation to the ISU Foundation as a part of the transfer of assets on July 1, 1999, when ISU acquired Mennonite College of Nursing. The purpose of the Ralph M. and Mary Esch Endowed Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships for students enrolled in the nursing programs at MCN. Clara Stutzman Scholarship
This endowment was established in 1999 as a part of the acquisition of Mennonite College of Nursing by Illinois State University. The fund was created out of monies given by Clara Stutzman (1899-1994), a 1923 graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing. She married Clarence Stutzman in 1936. They had one son, Dr. John C. Stutzman, who is a retired urologist. Clarence died in 1928. Clara married Earl Stutzman in 1934. They had one son, James Stutzman, who died in a farm accident at age 16. Earl died in 1977. The Clara Stutzman Scholarship was established in 1999 as a part of the acquisition of Mennonite College of Nursing by Illinois State University. The fund was created out of monies given by Clara Stutzman (1899-1994), a 1923 graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing. She married Clarence Stutzman in 1936. They had one son, Dr. John C. Stutzman, who is a retired urologist. Clarence died in 1928. Clara married Earl Stutzman in 1934. They had one son, James Stutzman, who died in a farm accident at age 16. Earl died in 1977. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in Mennonite College of Nursing. LaRue Sloan Scholarship
This endowment was established in 2002 by family and friends as a memorial for LaRue Sloan, a 1929 graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing. The scholarship is awarded to a student from a rural agricultural setting with at least 60 credits toward graduation from Mennonite College of Nursing. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The LaRue Sloan Scholarship was established in 2002 by family and friends as a memorial for LaRue Sloan, a 1929 graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing. The scholarship is awarded to a student from a small town or rural community accepted for enrollment or enrolled in good standing at the Mennonite College of Nursing.
Heritage Geriatric Nursing Scholarship
The Heritage Geriatric Nursing Scholarship was established in 2016 by Heritage Enterprises to provide annual scholarships to students of the Mennonite College of Nursing. Preference will be given to a students with a demonstrated interest in long term care, or the care of other adults.
Betty Rosendahl Wagner Endowed Scholarship
The Betty Rosendahl Wagner Endowed Scholarship was established to support students enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University. The scholarship is in honor of Betty Wagner, Class of 1948.
Daniel and Kathy Barbee Scholarship
The Daniel and Kathy Barbee Scholarship was established in 2018 to provide support for a Mennonite College of Nursing student enrolled in the who is ranked near the end of his/her admission cohort and currently working.
Anna Ropp Endowed Scholarship
The Anna Ropp Scholarship Fund was created in 2004 and funded initially with birthday gifts given in celebration of Ann's 100th birthday, and later with memorial gifts given by friends and family. The sons of Ann Ropp completed the endowment through family gifts. Each candidate for this scholarship must be enrolled in good standing at ISU, demonstrate academic achievement, as evidenced by a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to non-traditional nursing students in their junior or senior year, participating in the RN/BSN or equivalent program, or to a graduate student who demonstrates concern for body, mind, and spiritual aspects of nursing. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. Ann Ropp was raised in Missouri and left home in 1927 to enroll in the Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing in Bloomington, Illinois. A non-traditional student, Ann had already worked for several years before attending nursing school. Ann worked for the Mennonite Hospital for 22 years. When Ann retired in the early 1970's, healthcare was beginning to undergo major changes. Some say that the Hospital had to hire 7 nurses to replace the energy, skill, care, and experience that Ann provided. She continued to volunteer until she was in her late 90's, as a charter member of the BroMenn Service Auxiliary. The Anna Ropp Scholarship Fund was created in 2004. It was initially funded with birthday gifts given in celebration of Anna's 100th birthday and later with memorial gifts given by friends and family.

Roy O. Schilling created the Rachel Rogers Schilling Scholarship Fund in 2006 to honor his wife, a nurse and graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing. Rachel Rogers Schilling graduated from Mennonite School of Nursing in 1942 and began work at Mennonite Hospital. She later worked at Decatur Hospital for 17 years. She and Roy had two children, Susan and Mary. Rachel continued her nursing career while her children were young. Rachel enjoyed nursing, especially direct patient contact. Upon retirement she continued nursing and caring though many years of volunteer work. This endowment was established in 2003 by William and Nancy Froelich. As a funeral director and ambulance operator, William realized the need for a nursing home. He presented his idea for a comprehensive care facility to his first partners, and Heritage Nursing Home became the first full-service nursing home in Bloomington shortly thereafter. Nancy served on the Mennonite College of Nursing Board as vice president and then vice chairperson from 1983-1995. The funds are used to advance nursing in the long-term care setting. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. This endowment was established in 2003 by William and Nancy Froelich. Betty and Ron Kinser Endowed Scholarship Fund
Betty and Ron Kinser joined the Illinois State University family in 1965 after Ron became a candidate for a Master of Science degree in English. Ron earned his master's in 1966 and Betty earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Illinois State University in Art Education in 1973 and 1975. After teaching in public school for a few years, Betty joined the faculty at Illinois State as a lecturer in 1977 in the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts. Betty served the College in many roles until she retired in 2005. Betty was appointed to serve as a Trustee of Illinois State University in 2006. During the course of their retirement, Betty and Ron were both positively impacted by the care and treatment received while patients at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center following a period of separate illnesses. The constant presence of Illinois State nurses during their treatments is what inspired the family to create the Ron and Betty Kinser Endowed Scholarship for Nursing Students.
Lois E. (Hoobler) Philpott Endowed Scholarship

(Hoobler) Philpott Endowed Scholarship was established by Lois' children, William Butler, Lucinda Dohan, Lois Ann Gloor, and Kathryn Kirk following Lois' death in October 2011. The purpose of this fund is to award financial assistance to students who are enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing and are in good standing with Illinois State University. Lois graduated at the top of her class from Mennonite School of Nursing in 1940. She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years and volunteered in the Mennonite College of Nursing Alumni Association for six years. She was the nurses' nurse, bringing comfort to so many for so long. In 1984 Lois was awarded the college's highest honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award.

The scholarship is awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student enrolled in Mennonite College of Nursing. The Phyllis Schieber Endowed Scholarship in Nursing was established in 2013 by Phyllis Schieber to support student nurses enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University. Watkins Lamb Student Leader Scholarship Fund
Each candidate for a Watkins-Lamb Student Leadership Scholarship should meet the following qualifications: A. Enrolled as a student in good standing who has completed the junior year in the traditional pre-Iicensure nursing program at Illinois State University's Mennonite College of Nursing. B. Demonstration of academic achievement, as evidenced by a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25. C. Demonstration of leadership through service as a student leader at MCN (i.e. Student Nurses Association officer, Peer Support Person, Nursing Peer Tutors, etc.) D. When possible, preference should be given to an MCN student leader who also assumes a role in University -wide activities.
Collins/Hade Scholarship for Nontraditional Students
The Collins/Hade Scholarship for Nontraditional Students was established in 2018. The an annually awarded scholarship will support a nontraditional student to honor the memory and legacy of James and Lois Collins and Robert and Arlene Hade, parents and aunt and uncle of Susan Collins Grant, for their support and encouragement of Susan, a nontraditional student.
