Lois E. (Hoobler) Philpott Endowed Scholarship
The Lois E. (Hoobler) Philpott Endowed Scholarship was established by Lois' children, William Butler, Lucinda Dohan, Lois Ann Gloor, and Kathryn Kirk following Lois' death in October 2011. The purpose of this fund is to award financial assistance to students who are enrolled in the Mennonite College of Nursing and are in good standing with Illinois State University. Lois graduated at the top of her class from Mennonite School of Nursing in 1940. She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years and volunteered in the Mennonite College of Nursing Alumni Association for six years. She was the nurses' nurse, bringing comfort to so many for so long. In 1984 Lois was awarded the college's highest honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award.
