Rachel Rogers Schilling Endowed Scholarship

Roy O. Schilling created the Rachel Rogers Schilling Scholarship Fund in 2006 to honor his wife, a nurse and graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing. Rachel Rogers Schilling graduated from Mennonite School of Nursing in 1942 and began work at Mennonite Hospital. She later worked at Decatur Hospital for 17 years. She and Roy had two children, Susan and Mary. Rachel continued her nursing career while her children were young. Rachel enjoyed nursing, especially direct patient contact. Upon retirement she continued nursing and caring though many years of volunteer work. Each candidate for a Rachel Rogers Schilling Scholarship for educational expenses must be or have enrolled in good standing at Illinois State University; demonstrated strong academic achievement, as evidenced by a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; and demonstrated financial need.
