Construction Management Advancement Fund

The Construction Management program was established in 1996 as an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science program that prepares professionals to manage building projects to completion. The purpose of the fund is to support student, faculty, and volunteer expenses incurred for advancing the goals of the Construction Management Program. Covered expenses may be but are not limited to: travel funds for students participating in national and regional competitions, student scholarships and professional certification reimbursement, faculty professional development, advisory board meeting expenses, and events such as, freshmen orientation, placement events and the Commencement reception.

Department of Technology Faculty Professional Development Endowment

This endowment was established in 2000 by Emerson Wiens, a faculty member at Illinois State University from 1988-2000. The purpose of the fund is to provide professional development opportunities for faculty in the Department of Technology that will encourage and support the pursuit of excellence in teaching and scholarship. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Department of Technology Faculty Professional Development Endowment was established in 2000 in honor of Emerson Wiens, a faculty member at Illinois State University from 1988-2000. The endowment is designed to motivate the Department of Technology to identify special projects to promote excellence. The annual distribution will provide the flexibility to address specific professional development needs.

Wayne and Cathie Lockwood Endowment for Technology Enrichment

The Wayne and Cathie Lockwood Endowment for Technology Enrichment fund helps support the expenses associated with bringing outstanding speakers, practitioners or visiting professors in technology to ISU. Wayne Lockwood joined the department of technology at Illinois State University in 1969, after having served as an NDEA Fellow there the prior summer. He taught design/drafting, computer/microprocessor programming, and computer graphics. He also co-authored filmstrips, videotapes and an interactive laser video disc. Throughout his 38 year career in higher education, he had a strong professional interest in and provided leadership for curriculum improvement and program enrichment at the departmental, college and university levels. He retired in 2002. Cathie Lockwood received her bachelor's degree in history from ISU in 1996. Prior to retirement, she was a volunteer for STAR Literacy.

Charles and Betty Porter Scholarship for Leadership

This endowment was established by Charles Porter. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1948 and a master’s degree in 1950 from Illinois State University. The scholarship is awarded to a student possessing leadership potential. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Charles Porter Scholarship for Leadership was established in 1993 in honor of Charles Porter. Charles Porter earned a bachelor's degree in 1948 and a master's degree in 1950 from Illinois State University. The scholarship is awarded to a student possessing leadership potential.

Dr. Gary Weede Scholarship Endowment Fund

This endowment was established in 1996 by Gary Weede, a faculty member in the Department of Technology from 1970-1998. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in technology the manufacturing sequence with an emphasis in plastics technology. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Dr. Gary Weede Scholarship was established in 1996 by Gary Weede, a professor in the plastics area of the Integrated Manufacturing Systems sequence in the Department of (Industrial) Technology from 1970-1998. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student who has made significant contributions to financing his/her own education. The scholarship is awarded to a student who has enrolled in or completed nine hours of plastics related technology courses at Illinois State University.

Claude Bell Endowed Scholarship in Technology

The Dr. Claude Bell Endowed Scholarship in Technology was established in 2017 in honor of Dr. Bell by his daughter, Barb Lundgren, and close friend and colleague, Joe Talkington. The scholarship will support an incoming freshman or undergraduate student in good standing majoring in the Department of Technology.

Dr. Fred Kagy Endowed Fund for Professional Development in Graphic Communications

The Dr. Fred Kagy Endowed Fund for Professional Development in Graphic Communications helps cover educational expenses such as tuition, professional development, or travel expenses to support a positive outcome related to an internship experience for a student majoring in Graphic Communications. Dr. Frederick D. Kagy was recognized, not only in Central Illinois, but nationally and internationally as a craftsman, educator, author, mentor, consultant, printer, and photographer. He was hired by Illinois State University in 1965 as the coordinator of the Graphic Arts Instruction program in the Department of Industrial Technology (now named the Department of Technology). Family, colleagues, and friends established this endowed fund as a tribute to his legacy and his strong commitment to the professional development of students majoring in Graphic Communications at Illinois State.

Ken Stier Engineering Technology Endowed Scholarship

The student chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers established this fund in 1991 in the Department of Technology. Applicants must be classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Ken Stier Engineering Technology Scholarship supports a Department of Technology student who has a strong desire to pursue a career in Engineering Technology or a related field. Ken Stier was a professor in the Department of Technology at Illinois State University from 1981 through 2011. During that time he helped transition the Integrated Manufacturing Systems sequence into the Engineering Technology major and served as the coordinator of both programs. The student chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers established this fund in 1991 in the Department of Technology.

Wayne Zook Scholarship

This endowment was established in 1991 in memory of Wayne Zook by family and friends. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time student majoring in the Department of Technology with an emphasis in the construction sequence. Melvin and Kathy Wheeler Endowed Scholarship in Technology

The Melvin and Kathy Wheeler Endowed Scholarship in Technology Fund was established by Melvin and Kathy Wheeler. The priority of this scholarship is to assist students who are just entering Illinois State University as a freshman, transfer, or current undergraduate student studying in the Department of Technology.

Michael Thomas Family Scholarship

The Michael Thomas Family Scholarship was established in 2018 to provide financial assistance for students from underrepresented populations with preference given to students who are Illinois residents majoring in a program within the Department of Technology at Illinois State University. Scholarships are guaranteed renewable for up to four years as long as the student meets scholarship criteria.

Dr. Paul E. Brauchle Graduate Studies Endowment

The Dr. Paul E. Brauchle Graduate Studies Endowment provides professional development and research support for students. Paul E. Brauchle taught at Illinois State University in the Department of Technology from 1987 until his retirement in 2007. He served the department as coordinator of Graduate Studies for the greater part of his tenure. He inaugurated the Training and Development sequence and guided it into a nationally respected program. He was frequently consulted when other institutions wanted to add programs or courses in Training and Development or hire faculty. His graduate students were noted for the quality of their research.

William P. LaBounty Endowed Fund in Graphic Communications

The William P. LaBounty Endowed Fund in Graphic Communications was established by William LaBounty in 2011 to assist the graphic communications program with funding for equipment, student expenses related to attending conferences, and other needs. William grew up in a family bookbinding business, Stappenbeck Bookbindery. From the time he was in junior high school through his college years he worked summers in all areas of bookbinding. In 1974 he received a master's degree from Illinois State University in Industrial Technology. He retired from Illinois State University in 1993 as director of Printing Services where he was responsible for all printing, copying, and duplicating on campus. He was a member of and held most board positions in both the Central Illinois Chapter of Printing House Craftsmen and the Lincoln Land Chapter of the International Publishing Management Association.

Larry R. Miller Endowment for Servant-Leadership

Larry Miller became a faculty member in the Technology Department (formerly the Industrial Technology Department) in 1971. In 1983 he became the associate dean in the College of Applied Science and Technology. He lived his life as a servant leader. A servant leader involves others in decision making, helps others identify ways they can contribute to the good of the group, creates opportunities for success, motivates the team, provides constructive feedback, recognizes and rewards others, promotes positive relationships, and is willing to sacrifice for the common good. The purpose of this endowment is to promote awareness, understanding, and practice of servant leadership by students, faculty, and/or administrators.

Willard J. McCarthy Engineering Technology Endowed Scholarship

The Willard J. McCarthy Engineering Technology Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to a student who is enrolled as a major in engineering technology in the Department of Technology at Illinois State University. Willard "Bill" J. McCarthy was associate professor in the Department of Industrial Technology at Illinois State University from 1955-1980. He became nationally known as an author of two text books, Machine Tool Technology and Metalwork Technology and Practice. He was recognized by his peers as an expert in the field and was asked to author a major article titled "Machine Tools" for the 15th edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica. His teaching ability was unequaled. He retired in 1980 and is highly praised by the many alumni that benefited from knowing and learning from him. The scholarship was established by family and friends to honor Bill.

Robert C Monninger Scholarship

The Robert C. Monniger Scholarship Fund was established by the family of Robert Monninger. Robert retired from ISU in 1977 after twenty-five years of service. He was a utilities supervisor in the Heating Plant. Robert died on May 8, 2002. Each candidate for the scholarship must be or have: A. Enrolled in good standing at ISU as a full-time student in the Construction Management Program or an incoming transfer student. B. Commitment to a future career as a specialty trade contractor with emphasis in the mechanical and electrical aspects of construction. Preference given to candidates active in the student chapter of Mechanical Electrical Contractors Association. C. Demonstrated strong academic achievement, as evidenced by a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. The Robert C. The Department of Technology Scholarship Fund was established to recruit incoming freshmen in the field of industrial technology. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Department of Technology's first scholarship was called the Industrial Technology Scholarship and was established in 1989 to recruit incoming freshmen in the field of industrial technology. The purpose of the Legacy Scholarship is to recruit high potential freshmen and transfer students majoring in industrial technology.

Jeffrey Martin Williams Scholarship in Construction Management

The Jeffrey Martin Williams Scholarship in Construction Management was established in 2020 by Jeffrey Williams in honor of his father Jeffrey Martin Williams. The scholarship provides support for a senior majoring in construction management.

Dr. J. Michael Adams Endowment for Visionary Leadership

Assets of this fund are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Dr. J. Michael Adams Endowment for Visionary Leadership Fund supports an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in the Department of Technology at Illinois State University. Dr. Adams received his undergraduate degree from ISU in Technology in 1969 and Masters in Education in 1972. He received his Doctorate in 1976 from Southern Illinois. Dr. Adams began his academic career at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego, where he moved through faculty ranks to Senior Graduate Professor and received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence. He also served as a US Congressional Fellow, working on higher education legislation and advising US congressional leaders. Dr. Adams became Fairleigh Dickinson University's sixth president on July 1, 1999, following 15 years as an academic dean at Drexel University in Philadelphia. At Fairleigh Dickinson, he inspired a new mission: to prepare world citizens through global education.

James D. Loughlin Memorial Scholarship Fund

The James D. Loughlin Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 by family and friends to provide financial assistance to a junior or senior student at ISU. The scholarship applicant must be majoring in the construction management sequence in the Department of Technology. With this scholarship, the family hopes to provide assistance fpr other aspiring construction management majors to dream big, believe in themselves, and achieve great things. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The James D. Loughlin Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 by family and friends to provide financial assistance to a junior or senior student at Illinois State University. Dr. Hank Campbell Endowed Scholarship for Global Vision and Problem Solving

The Dr. Hank Campbell Endowed Scholarship for Global Vision and Problem Solving was established by Hank Campbell in 2010 to provide recognition and financial support for a student who engages in a learning activity using problem solving methodologies with a global perspective. Hank was a professor at Illinois State University in the Department of Technology from 1976-2004. While at the University he served in various capacities in the department, university, community, and national and international organizations. In his travels he consulted nationally and internationally sharing his expertise in quality management systems, manufacturing, plastics technology construction, and alternate energy systems, while also promoting international internships and exchange programs. He also established the working relationship between Habitat for Humanity of McLean County and Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University Collegiate Habitat chapters.

The Central Illinois Builders established this scholarship fund in the Department of Technology in 2001. This scholarship is for a junior or senior in the construction management program. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA and be active members of the AGC student chapter. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. Central Illinois Builders (CIB) is a chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. CIB is a voluntary trade association dedicated to the purpose of improving the professional standards of the construction industry and the skill, integrity and responsibility of its member firms. The intent of this scholarship is to encourage and support hard-working and motivated students in the construction management program at Illinois State University who aspire to a career in commercial construction.

Franzie Loepp Endowed Scholarship to Support Technology and Engineering Education

The Franzie Loepp Endowed Scholarship to Support Technology and Engineering Education helps attract high school seniors who desire to become technology and engineering teachers. Franzie Loepp joined the Department of Industrial Technology faculty in 1970. He progressed through the ranks, became the department's first university-wide distinguished professor, served as department chair, and retired as director of the Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology in 2003. As a technology educator, his major area of research was in middle school integrated mathematics, science, and technology curriculum development. Over the years, his research received $5 million in funding from the State of Illinois Department of Education and the National Science Foundation.

The William and Kara Burfeind Scholarship was established in 2019 to provide support for a student enrolled in the Department of Technology at Illinois State University. Preference will be given to students who are members of a University recognized fraternity or sorority, then to students involved in extracurricular activities who are working a part-time job.

Everett N. Israel Scholarship

This endowment was established in 2001 from an award Everett N. Israel received from the Technical Foundation of America, which promotes industrial and technology education through grant money and technical assistance. Israel is the former chair of the Department of Technology. The scholarship is awarded to technology education majors with at least a sophomore status. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. The Everett N. Israel Scholarship was established in 2001 from an award Everett N. Israel received from the Technical Foundation of America, which promotes industrial and technology education through grant money and technical assistance. Israel is former chair of the Department of Technology.
