Vicki Lynn (Crook) Dechman Memorial Education Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Vicki Lynn (Crook) Dechman by her husband of 42 years, Bernard "Dutch" Dechman. Vicki received her bachelor's degree in art from Illinois State in 1967 and her master's from Bank Street College of Education. Dutch received his bachelor's from Blackburn College in 1969 and his master's degree in psychology from Illinois State in 1972. They married in August, 1970. Vicki worked for the Carlinville Public School District for 34 years, most of those as the elementary art teacher. She was devoted to her students and an advocate for the more challenged student. Dutch was a school psychologist in Alton for 35 years. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students pursuing a career in teacher education.
