Spycher Award in Graduate Reading Studies Endowed Scholarship
The Spycher Award in Graduate Reading Studies was originally established in 2007 by a gift from an anonymous donor. No longer anonymous, this award has been created by and is named in honor or Ellen (ISU 1997 M.S.Ed. and retired faculty) and her husband, Richard Spycher, who wanted to provide financial support for the cost of tuition for graduate students pursuing the Master of Science in Education degree program with a concentration in reading, as offered through the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Each candidate must be enrolled in good standing, have a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience, have successfully completed at least two required courses in the program, and submit an essay and a reference. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool.
