Roy O. Schilling Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by Roy O. Schilling in 2007 to help support a deserving student that plans to become a teacher. Roy began his career in 1935 with a teaching certificate. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Illinois State Normal University and a masters degree in 1942 from Columbia College, New York City. During his life he taught elementary school, served as a principal, was a supervisor of student teachers, was an elementary administrative assistant for the Decatur Public Schools, and was a visiting associate professor of education at Millikin University. He served on many educational boards and received many awards for his dedication and service. He received the Volunteer Service Award from President George W. Bush in 2006 as an acknowledgement of his dedication and impact on education.
