Norman E. Orr Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 2011 through a gift from the estate of Norman E. Orr. He grew up on a farm near Bloomington, attended Bloomington public schools, and graduated from Illinois State Normal University in 1960. While attending the University he received a scholarship which impacted his education and his lifelong commitment to helping others. He was a man who aimed for excellence in everything he did, which is demonstrated by his thoughtfulness in making provisions through his estate to create a scholarship that would benefit students at Illinois State University, much like he benefitted when he was a student. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support for students who plan to become teachers and have a financial need. Endowment assets are invested in the Illinois State University Foundation's long-term investment pool.
