LEADS Fellowship for Doctoral Students
*** Need Purpose LEADS stands for Leadership in Educational Administration for the Development of Schools, a succinct expression of the EAF Department's longstanding commitment to strengthen the K-12 public schools through sound graduate education. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. This program was initiated in 2001 when Paul J. Baker wanted to make sure that the beginnings of such a program were in place by the time of his retirement from the Department of Educational Administration and Foundations later that year. He began teaching at Illinois State in 1965 in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and in 1992 was named Distinguished Professor at the University. The purpose of the Leadership in Educational Administration for the Development of Schools (LEADS) Fellowship program is to provide part-time EAF doctoral students with the opportunity to work individually with a faculty mentor on an action research project that addresses real-life school problems.
