Kelli Stackhouse Appel Special Education Scholarship
This endowment was created by Kelli Stackhouse Appel, a 1989 graduate of Illinois State University. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in special education. Candidates must have junior or senior standing in special education sequence (60-90 credit hours), have a GPA of 3.0 or above, be a role model among prospective special education teachers, and demonstrate strong potential for future contribution to the special education field. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. Mrs. Kelli Stackhouse Appel graduated from Illinois State University in December 1989. While at ISU, Mrs. Appel was an outstanding student and was appointed as one of the Bone Scholars of 1989-1990. During her first year as a dedicated teacher in the field of special education, teaching children with multiple disabilities, Mrs. Appel donated $10,000 to the Illinois State University Foundation to establish a fund to encourage special education majors to achieve high standards of academic work and professional development.
