John J. Ireland Scholarship
The John J. Ireland Scholarship was established in 1968 at the death of John J. Ireland, using the proceeds of a trust established by John Ireland. In 1982 the fund reached the endowed level, and a scholarship was established at the recommendation of Ireland's niece. The scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student, majoring in music, with preference given to those with a strong interest in opera.
