Hunkler-Stagen Teaching Scholarship

Patricia (Hunkler) and Larry Stagen started their "Pay-It-Forward" endeavor by establishing the Hunkler-Stagen Teaching Scholarship in memory of Pat's parents, Mildred and Ray Hunkler, and her grandparents, Ruth and John Hunkler. Each candidate must be enrolled as a new freshman or as an upper-class student in good standing at ISU; have plans to become a teacher; demonstrated financial need; submit an essay describing the student's desire to become a teacher; understand that the scholarship award will be applied to the student's tuition and fees; and submit two references from high school faculty (if entering freshman) or from university/college (if upperclassman). All things being equal, preference is to be given to students who are graduates of Farmer City Blue-Ridge High School, Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School, East Peoria High School, or Washington High School. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University endowment Investment Pool.
