Greenebaum Memorial Fund
Before her death in 2009, Elisabeth C. Greenebaum of Chicago arranged for a gift to Illinois State to establish an endowment to provide scholarships for students studying to become teachers, who might not otherwise be able to afford college tuition. All scholarships shall be made in memory of Elisabeth; her parents, Helen Greenebaum and Jacob Greenebaum; and her brother, Henry E. Greenebaum. Elisabeth graduated from the University of Chicago. She had wanted to pursue a graduate degree at Illinois State, but caring for her parents and the family business prevented that. Henry served in the Army, graduated from Northwestern University, traveled extensively, and helped with the family business. Candidates must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0, be enrolled in a teacher education program, and have demonstrated financial need. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool. Before her death in 2009, Elisabeth C.
