Donald and Gloria Eklund Endowed Scholarship
In order to honor their parents on their 60th wedding anniversary in 2011, David Eklund and his family, together with his siblings (Michael, Julie, and Barbara) and their families, established this scholarship. Donald and Gloria are both graduates of Knoxville High School, and both were valedictorians of their classes, he in 1947 and she in 1948. Because they were valedictorians, they each received state scholarships to attend Illinois State Normal University, where he earned a B.S.E. in 1955 and she earned her B.S.E. in 1952. The purpose of this scholarship is to honor the Eklunds and their education at ISNU in perpetuity, while at the same time providing financial scholarship support for students who plan to become teachers.
