Delora Mast Endowed Teaching Scholarship
The Delora Mast Endowed Teaching Scholarship was established by Karel Thompson to honor her mother's career as an educator. Delora, a full-time mother for many years, returned to school at age 50 to pursue a teaching degree, and graduated from Illinois State University's College of Education in 1965 with a degree in social sciences education. She taught in the Peoria suburbs for more than a decade and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students and helping them to understand that learning about history can be fun and interesting.
