Carl Johanson Scholarship
This scholarship was endowed by Dr. Alvin and Mrs. Elaine Goldfarb and is named for Elaine's father, Carol Johanson. Elaine worked at Metcalf Laboratory Schools. Alvin served as provost, dean of the College of Fine Arts, and chair of the Theatre Department at Illinois State. Johanson was born in Sweden. His formal schooling ended early due to the death of his parents. The scholarship recognizes the need to help those like him complete their education. Each candidate must be a full-time civil service employee who has at least two years of continuous service at, and is working toward a degree or diploma from, the University; has achieved at least junior status (including master's and doctoral students), and has a college grade point average of "C" or above. A recipient may be awarded a maximum of two one-year scholarships. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool.
