Kass Odom Internship Grant for Student Teachers
The Kass Odom Internship Grant for Student Teachers was established by Kathleen A. Odom to provide financial assistance to offset unforeseen costs associated with an unpaid student teaching position such as gas, travel, lodging or purchasing work supplies. These costs often prohibit a student from completing his/her student teaching assignment.
The Mores/Williams Career Experience Stipend
When an internship does not provide a stipend or wage, many students cannot afford to accept the position because they need to work part/full time to support themselves and their education. Alumni Tammy Mores and Scott Williams (decd.) believe that career work experiences, like internships, are an important part of education and prepare students for work after Illinois State University (ISU). The fund will provide financial assistance to students pursuing a career experiential learning opportunity and who meet the following criteria: - Student must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. - Student must be currently enrolled at ISU and completing an internship, clinical, student teaching, practicum or similar unpaid work experience. - Stipend will be utilized to offset additional expenses incurred while fulfilling their work obligation, for example: - Paying for gas - Lodging - Travel - Supplies or work clothing - Student will submit a personal statement (300 words max) explaining why the stipend is needed and what it will be spent on. - Applications will be accepted at the start of each semester and students may reapply as the stipend may be awarded more than once. Fiscal agent will decide how much funding a student will receive and will award as many stipends as possible, until funds are depleted. - Students receiving course credit for their work may also apply.
