Franson-Anderson Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Franson-Anderson Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Ida Franson, a class of 1952 graduate of Illinois State University, and her husband Eugene "Jerry" Anderson. A life-long resident of Niles, Illinois, Ida served as a substitute teacher for the Niles school district for more than 30 years and as a volunteer for the school library for several more years following her retirement from teaching. She was best known for her commitment to her profession, a willingness to share her experience with others, and an uncanny capacity to memorize names and faces. The Franson-Anderson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate student admitted to teacher education, preferably elementary education, and planning a career in the teaching profession. The award may be used to support expenses associated with an international educational experience endorsed through Illinois State University (e.g. student abroad, student teaching, alternate spring break programs, etc.)
